As the rains subside and Tanzania’s landscapes transform into vibrant shades of green, April and May usher in a dynamic phase of the Great Migration. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and antelope begin their northward journey from the southern plains of Ndutu to the heart of the Serengeti. This season is marked by both motion and survival, as young calves, only weeks old, take their first steps across the vast plains under the watchful eyes of predators. The ongoing spectacle of life and movement offers unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography, illuminated by the soft, golden light of the season.

April provides a unique experience with fewer crowds, lush scenery, and sweeping panoramic views. Beyond the wildlife, this itinerary includes an immersive encounter with the Hadzabé bushmen, one of Africa’s last remaining hunter-gatherer communities. Engage with their rich traditions through storytelling, tracking, and hands-on activities that offer authentic insight into their ancient way of life—all framed by the towering presence of Mount Kilimanjaro and the tranquil beauty of the African savannah.
Your unforgettable safari adventure begins the moment you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you’ll be warmly welcomed by the Miguu Expeditions Team. From there, enjoy a scenic 40–45-minute drive (33 km/21 miles) to Ngaresero Mountain Lodge, a peaceful retreat nestled at the foothills of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain. Ngaresero is one of our favorite places to stay in Arusha—sprawling, serene, and surrounded by lush greenery. The lodge is renowned for its warm hospitality, delicious food, and tranquil ambiance, making it the perfect place to relax, recover from your journey, and ease into the rhythm of Tanzania. The food is excellent—be sure to order a private African dinner in advance.
